How Funds Are Used
1. Documentation & Recording
Year 1: ~$15,000 Ongoing: $5,000 – $10,000 annually Includes: Underwater audio and video recording equipment, hydrophones and archival tools, upgrading data storage and preservation, selective upgrades as technology evolves. Documentation is approached with care and restraint.
2. Living Support (Presence & Stability)
$60,000 annually This supports a simple, focused life organized around listening. Includes: – housing, food, transportation – health care and basic insurance – time for rest, integration, and reflection – freedom from side work that fragments attention. A regulated nervous system is essential to this work.
3. Core Field Operations & Safety
$40,000 – $80,000 annually Maui - $45,000. Includes boat charter and captain or possible inflatable boat with trailer, boat maintenance, fuel. Bimini, Bahamas - $35,000. Hiring a captain for my boat, boat maintenance, fuel. These costs fluctuate year to year depending on conditions and opportunities.
4. Global Ocean Listening & Travel
$15,000 – $45,000 annually (average)
This supports periodic, intentional journeys to other oceans where relationship naturally opens.
Includes: – international travel (typically 1–3 journeys per year) – local vessels, guides, and safety support – lodging that allows rest and integration – time for relationship-building rather than performance
Some years may be lighter; others may include a deeper expedition. Flexibility preserves integrity.
